Promoting Active Retirement

Age Concern Hampshire runs Pre-retirement Seminars four times per year with an established customer base of local and, locally based, national employers.

 

It runs an Annual Golf Challenge (involving many of the golf clubs in the County), a Writers’ Competition, Activities Days and ten UK online Computer Centres in: Bordon – Wednesdays 12 to 5 p.m.; Butlocks Heath – Thursdays 10 to 1 p.m.; Lyndhurst – Thursdays 10-30 to 3 p.m.;  Burghclere – Fridays 10-30 to 12-30 p.m.; Southampton (in conjunction with Age Concern Southampton) – Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Havant Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2-30 p.m.; Basingstoke (in conjunction with Age Concern Basingstoke) –   Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m; Petersfield (in conjunction with Age Concern Petersfield) – Thursdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The mobile centre is currently visiting Cowplain on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Information and Advice

 

Age Concern Hampshire’s “Information and Advice Service” has level three (plus telephone) Community Legal Service Accreditation and an 0800 FREEphone number. It has two locations in Winchester and Havant, which between them deal with 9000 enquiries per year, and also provides support and back up to many of the other Age Concerns which also provide Information and Advice.  Referrals are Countywide and Age Concern Hampshire is increasingly involved in advocacy.

 

Regular “Long Term Care Planning Days” are held as an extension of its “Information and Advice” service. It has an “Aids to Daily Living” demonstration and resource centre in Havant.

 

Age Concern Hampshire facilitates “Older People’s Forums” in Havant and the New Forest.

 

Leadership Seminars

 

Age Concern Hampshire has run Leadership Seminars for Chief Executives and Directors from Health, Social Services and Housing. Past events have been held in conjunction with Christian Schumacher, The Tom Peters Group and BIOSS

 

Trading

 

Age Concern Hampshire is a member of the Trading Alliance and currently figures in four of the eight National League Tables with a highest placing of 2nd.

 

Support to other Age Concerns within the County

 

Age Concern Hampshire provides support to the other Age Concerns within the County on a variety of issues.

Age Concern Hampshire has “Investors In People” accreditation.
