We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated assistant manager to work at our Rosefield Day Care Centre.

Working pattern - Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am - 3.30pm

19.5 hours per week

Main purpose and scope of the role:

To assist the Day Care Centre Manager in maintaining the smooth and effective running of a Day Care Centre for physically or mentally frail older Service Users and deputise for the Manager in his/her absence.

Reports to: Day Care Centre Manager

Responsible for: Supervision of support staff and driver

Duties and key responsibilities:


Prepare and manage a stimulating activity programme, in conjunction with other staff, for both group and person centred approaches.

Build relationships with the Service Users.

Ensure Service Users receive suitable care, meals and refreshments.

Assist with marketing the centre places locally, attending groups and giving talks.

Ensure that additional services within the centre are utilised and advertised locally.

Support the setting up of additional services as directed by the Manager and/or Area Manager.

Assist the Centre Manager to ensure the needs of those attending the Centre are met, such as attending to the personal needs of Service Users (including those in wheelchairs), administering emergency aid, personal care/help with toileting where required with particular attention to those Service Users who may be incontinent plus all other aspects of the contractual service specifications.

Post holders are expected to be competent to work with both physically and mentally frail people as and when required by the Centre Manager.

Assist with planning, monitoring and review of care plans in accordance with Age Concern Hampshire policies and contractual specifications including liaison with colleagues in other agencies as required.

Assist the Manager in all aspects of operational and staff management.

Provide cover for Passenger Assistant role if required, helping in the transport of service users from their homes to the Day Care Centre and returning them in the afternoon (overtime paid)


To assist in the recruitment, deployment, training and support of volunteers attending the Day Care Centre.


To undertake, if requested, tasks generally associated with the Day Care Centre Manager's role during his/her temporary absence.

To attend meetings as required and provide appropriate information regarding the operation of the Day Care Centre.

A flexible approach to working hours and duties is required to cover for staff absence (usually with notice)

To undertake training on related matters.

To undertake any other such duties that may reasonable be considered within the scope of the post.
