Age Concern Hampshire is delighted to announce the expansion of its IT sessions to now include Locks Heath near Southampton, alongside its existing sessions in Basingstoke. This expansion aims to broaden the availability of personalised IT support to older individuals in the community, allowing them to navigate the digital world with confidence.
With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the 1-1-1 IT Sessions will cater specifically to older individuals, recognising the unique challenges they may face in adopting and utilising technology. Through personalised sessions, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their IT skills, tackle hardware and software issues, set up new devices, and navigate online with confidence.

These will complement our existing sessions in Basingstoke, enabling more people to access tailored IT support, build computer confidence and overcome digital exclusion.”
Several factors contribute to digital exclusion among the elderly, including limited access to advice and support, lack of familiarity with digital devices and applications, and apprehension or fear of technology. These challenges can make it difficult for older adults to bridge the digital divide. By providing the skills and resources needed to navigate the digital world, sessions aim to tackle digital exclusion and create an inclusive and equitable environment for older individuals to learn new skills and gain confidence.
IT sessions are overseen and run by volunteers who are experienced and trained in offering personalised guidance and IT support tailored to individual needs. To ensure efficient allocation of resources and personalised assistance, all sessions must be booked in advance.
