Age Concern Hampshire Expands its Foot Care Services across the County  

Age Concern Hampshire Foot Care Clinics

Age Concern Hampshire is growing its foot care services due to increased demand. As part of this growth, new clinics are being launched in North Hampshire, including in Tadley and Farnborough, with additional locations planned, helping to make essential foot health services more accessible to local residents in those areas. 

This growth comes at a timely moment, aligning with Foot Health and Mobility Awareness Month in September, a national campaign that highlights how regular foot care plays a crucial role in maintaining independence, mobility and wellbeing as we age. With many older people at increased risk of foot related issues, early attention and consistent care can make a significant difference in quality of life and the 6-weekly foot health checks identify potential issues at an earlier stage. 

“Our Foot Care service has seen a steady increase in demand, and we are proud to be growing to meet that need,” says Una Davey, Head of Commercial at Age Concern Hampshire. “The new clinics in North Hampshire will allow us to support even more people to remain active and independent for as long as possible.”

The clinics provide vital services such as toenail cutting and comprehensive foot health checks. Appointments are available every six weeks and delivered by qualified practitioners who are experienced in meeting the foot care needs of older people. Ongoing care helps to prevent issues that can impact mobility, comfort and overall wellbeing. 

With services now expanding across Hampshire, Age Concern Hampshire is reaching more communities and supporting more people in leading healthy, mobile lives.

To support the smooth running of the clinics, Age Concern Hampshire is seeking Volunteer Foot Care Receptionists to ‘meet & greet’ clients at various clinic locations. Volunteers support local charity by Revamping the 20+ year old building at Lockswood Care and Wellbeing Centre in Locks Heath.

Age Concern Hampshire is delighted to announce that Simplyhealth employees have generously volunteered to redecorate one of the offices at the Lockswood Care and Wellbeing Centre in Locks Heath. This act of corporate volunteering not only brightened the space that was in dire need of some ‘TLC’ after over 20 years but also highlighted the importance of community engagement in supporting local charities. 

A dedicated team of Simplyhealth employees transformed the office, creating a welcoming and uplifting environment for the staff and visitors at the Lockswood Care & Wellbeing Centre. The centre plays a vital role in providing support for older individuals who require extra assistance or are living with dementia, offering services that promote social inclusion, wellbeing, and independence. The centre also acts as a lifeline for unpaid carers by offering safe and secure respite for their loved ones.

Make 2025 the Year of Giving Back with Age Concern Hampshire

With the arrival of 2025, Age Concern Hampshire is seeking more compassionate individuals to volunteer and support older people across the county. As the ageing population continues to grow, the charity’s work is more important than ever, and additional volunteers are needed to make a meaningful impact in the community. 

As an independent charity, they are committed to improving the lives of older people through specialist care at their Care and Wellbeing Centres and vital services that promote independence, playing a key role in enhancing the quality of life for older individuals, their carers, and families. 

Volunteering with Age Concern Hampshire offers more than just an opportunity to give time, it provides a chance to build meaningful connections and ensure that older people feel valued and supported. Whether it’s an hour a week or more, each contribution can help provide companionship, practical support, and a lifeline to those who need it most.

To address the increasing demands of Hampshire’s ageing population, volunteers are sought for a range of roles, including: 

  • Supporting Care and Wellbeing Centres, which offer activities, social interaction, and day care services. 
  • Helping to run social groups in areas like Basingstoke and the New Forest, creating community and connection among older residents. 
  • Assisting with initiatives like the Information Service providing essential guidance and resources. 
  • Offering practical support with form-filling, helping older people access benefits and services. 
  • Reception support for our Foot Care Clinics, which provide toenail cutting to help maintain health and mobility. 
  • Administrative support across our services, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. 
  • Support on rehabilitation wards in Community Hospitals in Alton, Gosport and Petersfield.  

Kate Harrison, Volunteer Coordinator at Age Concern Hampshire, praised the charity’s volunteers, saying: “The support we provide to clients and their carers wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team of dedicated and passionate volunteers. Many have supported us for years, finding real enjoyment and fulfilment in their roles, as well as the social benefits volunteering brings.” 

Age Concern Hampshire is also seeking passionate individuals for leadership roles, including Trustee and Deputy Chair positions. These positions offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the charity, helping shape its future and navigate the challenges ahead. 

As many businesses continue to incorporate corporate social responsibility (CSR) into their operations, Age Concern Hampshire is also actively seeking partnerships with corporations. This includes opportunities for employee volunteer programs and joint campaigns, aiming to expand the reach and impact of the charity’s essential services.
